QATAR FORUM 2022
JUNE 9 & 10, 2022
SHERATON GRAND DOHA RESORT & CONVENTION HOTEL
Join us for our live broadcast of the Future Retail Destinations conference on June 9th!
A wide range of global retail industry experts are part of the panel of key speakers at the Future Retail Destinations conference 9th and 10th of June.
Don’t miss the chance to be a part of this pioneering event.
We introduce Future Retail Destinations: Qatar Forum 2022, a platform to showcase and position Qatar as an inspirational and unique shopping and entertainment destination in the region.
For its premier debut, the time is just right to collaborate and share knowledge, as we leverage the global awareness and focus on Qatar through FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 TM. We are eager to promote best practices in placemaking and discuss the future of retail experiences and development in the region, along with leading international and local VIP speakers, leaders and pioneers, business owners, destination developers and investors.
It is an annual event to address the retail habits of the nation, raising awareness of the retail developments in the country, highlighting success and fostering growth of the retail industry to fulfil the Qatar National Vision 2030.
The Qatar Chamber of Commerce & Industry (QCCI) is delighted to support and endorse the most awaited retail event of the year, the Future Retail Destinations. We look forward to sharing our experiences as we continue to pursue the transformation of our local shopping malls into unique destinations and being inspired by global leaders in the retail industry on how to collectively rethink strategies to reset the market and reimagine the retail experiences in the country and the wider region.
Sheikh Khalifa Bin Jassim Al Thani
Chairman of the Qatar Chamber of Commerce & Industry (QCCI)
The needs of retail destinations are changing rapidly. The current model of traditional shopping, as we know it, is no longer viable. Creating shopping malls that become favourite meeting places by conceptualising outstanding experiences, innovative events and decorations that catalyse customer and visitor engagements through a digital layer is the future. The collective mission is to reimagine the customer experience to retain their engagement in physical retail markets.
Increase networking opportunities to empower businesses, learn from and get inspired by successful activations. To maximise success and capitalise on the new era of post-pandemic retail practices, retailers, real estate owners, destination developers and investors must work together.
A series of talks, roundtable discussions and interactive workshops will bring together leading retail entrepreneurs, brand tycoons and innovators who will share their experiences and knowledge about understanding and delighting customers. Therein also sharing key strategies to advance business, develop new products and services to help organisations grow and innovate.
The new era of placemaking and brand engagement requires reassessment of industry values and business intentions in order to survive. Future Retail Destinations serves as ‘the’ platform for the retail community to mastermind through high quality networking, exposure and expansion opportunities to drive success, create brand equity and enhance guest experience.
The Future Retail Destinations Conference will bring together leading voices from the retail industry to amplify the role of shopping malls as retail and entertainment destinations with a focus on experience design and human connections.
This inaugural event will be hosted by CELS Group in collaboration with the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry bringing together top brand innovators from the retail sector. Capped off with a gala dinner on the second night, the conference with a series of inspiring keynotes, engaging talks and interactive roundtable discussions will promote best practices in placemaking and discuss the future of retail experiences and development in the region, highlighting the need for people to come together to re-engineer customer experiences, keeping emotions at the centre.
To maximise success and capitalise on the new era of post-pandemic retail practices, retailers, real estate owners, destination developers and investors must work together to bridge the transition of shopping malls to become “favourite meeting places.” Our mission is to retain and innovate customer engagement to enhance and enrich the physical retail environment in the era of hybrid.

At FRD, attendees can submit their questions via their WhatsApp and vote up the ones they find most relevant for discussion.
Attendees can network and discuss ideas with one another by using event chat rooms through the event WhatsApp chat.
These are 30-minute power-packed sessions where each group will be given a topic to discuss common issues and solutions. The facilitator will introduce a topic and facilitate the discussion to reveal common issues and solutions.
Live polling will be available through WhatsApp Chatbot, with easy and relevant questions, and the results will be displayed on the screen in real-time.
A select number of speakers will be given the opportunity to present their case studies and highlight simple yet concrete steps they took to reach a successful outcome.
Expect intervals of edutainment acts at our conference to spark your energy and stimulate you to strike up conversations with other guests over your shared experiences.
A virtual artist will digitally capture a summary of the speaker's content and conference conversations, bringing the essential elements of the event together in a graphical presentation. After the event, the final sketch will be distributed to attendees.
To spice things up, we are hosting games at random times during the conference, and winners will receive fun and amazing prizes!
Knowing and understanding customer needs is at the heart of every successful business. It offers broader possibilities than traditionally dividing visitors into target groups. This workshop will explain the opportunity of customer need thinking and how you can apply it. You will work on specific cases to practise in groups, validate the outcome and share your results in plenary.
To put consumers truly at the heart of our thinking, we need to understand the world around us. Societal developments influence human behaviour every day. When you are curious about societal developments, you can use them to develop your business in time to be successful today, tomorrow, and in the long run. This workshop will teach you everything about contemporary societal developments and give you the tools to use them in your daily work. You will work with a selection of them and apply them to challenges in different locations in the region, and share the outcomes in plenary.
Visual Strategist / Director
Visually yours – Design Agency
A great destination is a place where visitors feel like they are experiencing something unique. This uniqueness is what makes a place stand out from its competitors and how it earns a special place in the minds of potential customers. Customers are looking for sincere uniqueness that creates stories that go beyond “WOW” and “it was amazing.” These stories will not last very long, and they will definitely not guarantee recurring visitation. You will be introduced to soul anchors and uniqueness and will work with these insights on several locations in the region to create potential uniqueness and share these outcomes in plenary.

Are you a retail-anchored shopping centre or a theatre with consistently attractive programming? Commercial real estate is a conservative industry that needs to start thinking differently and develop and operate their assets in a different way. Optimize the existing cubic meters, start thinking 24/7, hardware and software and total flexibility. Think in new business models. You will be introduced to this thinking and will create an imaginary shopping centre of the future, and you will share your results in plenary.
